Navigation Centers and SAFE Navigation Centers

Bayview SAFE Navigation Center

  • 1925 Evans Street
  • Status: Approved. Anticipated to open January 25, 2021
  • Capacity: approximately 200 beds, COVID capacity of 116 beds
  • Community Engagement Process: The City completed its robust community input process for this site.

Transitional Age Youth Navigation Center

  • 700 Hyde Street
  • Status: Approved.  Anticipated to open February 2021.
  • Capacity: up to 75 beds, COVID capacity of 43 beds.
  • Community Engagement Process: The City completed its robust community input process for this site.

Upper Market SAFE Navigation Center

  • 33 Gough Street
  • Status: Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the proposed SAFE Navigation at this site was paused and after careful consideration cancelled.  33 Gough opened as a Safe Sleep Village in December 2020.
  • Capacity: 44 Safe Sleep spaces
  • Community Engagement Process:  The City completed its robust community input process for this site in early 2020.  A community meeting for 33 Gough Safe Sleep Village was held on December 17, 2020.

The Navigation Center Neighborhood Impacts Report is a study on the neighborhood impacts of Navigation Centers and addresses questions regarding the impact on crime, property values, sense of safety and visibility of homelessness in the neighborhoods surrounding Navigation Centers.

Proposed Supportive Housing Projects

The Granada Hotel

  • 1000 Sutter Street
  • Status: Approved.
  • Additional Information:
    • Granada Hotel was acquired through Project Homekey and will provide approximately 232-units of Permanent Supportive Housing.

Hotel Diva

  • 440 Geary Street
  • Status: Approved.
  • Additional Information:
    • Hotel Diva was acquired through Project Homekey and will provide approximately 130-units of Permanent Supportive Housing

The Abigail

  • 246 McAllister Street
  • Status: Approved
  • Additional Information: Due to COVID-19, this project was paused and is currently being used as part of the City’s emergency response. HSH anticipates this site will open to provide Housing Ladder housing in 2021.

The Post Hotel

  • 589 Post Street
  • Status: Proposed
  • Additional Information: Due to COVID-19, this project was temporarily paused. HSH now anticipates this site will open to provide Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) in February 2021.
